Investigation Nr: 300555109
Event: 07/18/1998
EMPLOYEE STRUCK BY TRUCK AND KILLED

On July 18, 1998, Employee #1 was walking across the road from the paving machine to a skid-steer loader which was parked on the side of the road. A truck rig, which had just finished dumping it's load in the hopper of the paving machine went up the and turned around, heading back to the stockpile of material. The truck driver observed Employee #1 crossing the road while looking back to his left. The truck driver thought Employee #1 might not know that the truck was near and sounded his horn. When the truck driver sounded his horn, Employee #1 was killed when jumped to his right, and directly into the path of an oncoming truck. The truck which struck Employee #1 was hauling asphalt paving material.
