Employee crushed and killed when backhoe overturns on slope

Employee #1 was operating a Case 580l backhoe with a bucket full of white rock. He was descending an embankment at an angle when he decided to get off of the backhoe. After Employee #1 dismounted, the vehicle started to tip. The backhoe then overturned, striking him in the upper back, between the shoulder blades and below the neck. Employee #1 was killed. The backhoe was equipped with a roll-over protection system.
