Investigation Summary

Investigation Nr: 200270486
Event: 02/10/1999
Employee's finger amputated in transfer conveyor belt

Employee #1 was sitting on a stool at the south end of a transfer conveyor in the production room, picking the product off the conveyor line as it came to her. The 12 in. wide belt began to slip and she reached across the belt to adjust it. In the process, Employee #1's left hand became caught and was dragged to the area where the belt goes over the smooth, cylindrical pulley. The top half of her little finger was amputated, but it was later surgically reattached.
