EMPLOYEE LOST BALANCE AND FELL FROM SECOND FLOOR LEVEL

ON SEPTEMBER 18, 1986, EMPLOYEE #1 WAS TRYING TO REMOVE AN EXTERIOR WALL BRACE FROM THE SECOND FLOOR OF A DWELLING UNDER CONSTRUCTION, SO THAT A 24 FOOT EXTERIOR WALL COULD BE INSTALLED. WITNESSES STATED THAT EMPLOYEE #1 WAS SHAKING THE BRACE WHEN IT SUDDENLY BROKE LOOSE. SHE FELL 15 FEET, 6 INCHES TO SOFT GROUND. SHE HAD BEEN TRAINED IN SAFE METHODS OF BRACE REMOVAL. THE EMPLOYEE WAS TRANSPORTED TO FALLSTON GENERAL HOSPITAL.
