Employee killed when struck by rotating board

Employee #1 was responsible for pulling a handle and emptying a load of 2 in. by 4 in. boards that were located in a lumber sorter mechanism. One 2 by 4 fell from the sorter in the wrong position into the lumber carrying buggy. As the buggy was being pulled from under the sorter, the board caught on the sorter support beam and on the buggy stanchion, causing the board to rotate counterclockwise. One end of the board struck Employee #1 on the side of his head, killing him. Employee #1 was wearing a hard hat.
