Employee killed by falling tree

On Tuesday, October 12, 1993, Employee #1 was cutting timber in a wooded area near Ward's Corner, NC. Apparently, he was stumping or cutting a tree with his chain saw. After being cut, the tree fell and became lodged in an adjacent tree, approximately 30 feet away. Employee #1 then proceeded to cut the second tree, causing the first tree to fall to the ground and pin him and his chain saw to the ground. Employee #1 died before any employees discovered his body. He was discovered between 2:00 and 2:30 pm.
