ELECTRIC SHOCK - STATIC DISCHARGE

AN EMPLOYEE WAS UNCLOGGING AN 8-INCH PVC DUCT FROM AN ENVELOPE MACHINE. WHEN THE PIPE WAS OPENED, A STATIC ELECTRIC DISCHARGE CAME OUT OF THE PVC PIPE TO THE EMPLOYEE'S LEFT ARM. THE EMPLOYEE WAS KNOCKED TO HIS KNEES. HE DIED ABOUT 30 DAYS LATER. THE MEDICAL EXAMINER CONCLUDED THAT DEATH WAS RELATED TO OBSTRUCTED CORONARY ARTERIES.
