Accident Investigation Summary
Summary Nr: 132662.015Event: 12/11/2020Employee With Covid-19 Infection Dies
An employee was working for a major metropolitan city's police force. She was a police officer. Police officers on her force worked in the field and in an offic e. Her last day of work was December 2, 2020. She became ill with the symptoms o f COVID-19 on that day. On December 4, 2020, she tested positive for COVID-19. S he had been exposed to the SARS-CoV-2 virus. On December 5, 2020, she went to th e hospital, but she was discharged. On December 7, 2020, she was taken by ambula nce to a different hospital. On December 11, 2020, she was transported to a thir d hospital, in Santa Monica, CA. Her condition gradually deteriorated. On Januar y 13, 2021, she died of COVID-19. The Division learned about her death that same day. According to police department headquarters, from March 26, 2020 through J anuary 22, 2021, the employer had 65 confirmed positive COVID-19 cases.
