Employee with COVID-19 infection dies

At 7:00 p.m. on December 4, 2020, an employee who worked as a Highway Maintenance Worker for a State Department of Transportation died from COVID-19. The employee hadn't worked since November 25, 2020 right before the Thanksgiving Holiday. The employee had been visiting family over the holiday. On November 27, 2020, the employee felt ill and called off work. On November 30, 2020, the employee took a COVID-19 test and remained at home until he received his test results. The employer was not able to determine if the employee contracted COVID-19 at work or during the holiday. At the time of the narrative the employee's test results were still not available. Information regarding engineering, administrative and personal protective equipment controls for COVID-19 are not included in the narrative.
