Accident Investigation Summary
Summary Nr: 124562.015Event: 03/05/2020Company Owner Is Killed In Fall From Roof
At 2:45 p.m. on March 5, 2020, Employee #1, the owner of a construction framing company, and three coworkers were engaged in roofing work for a new residential structure. They were nailing 4 by 8 sheets of plywood on the roof's truss. Weather conditions were windy. As Employee #1 and a coworker attempted to lift a plywood sheet from the stack, the plywood was lifted by the wind as though it were a sail. This caused Employee #1 to fall head-first from the roof, a fall height of approximately 9 feet. Employee #1's head and face impacted hard clay ground and concrete debris. He was killed.
