The machine suddenly activated and closed on Employee #1's hand. The machine head was heated to 700 degrees on the melt side and 500 degrees on the other side. Employee #1 suffered severe burns to his right hand, which had to be amputated above the wrist. The die cast machine is an Amvet die caster, Model No. H-50-ZX (Serial No. 3017), 50-ton mold machine.
