Investigation Summary
While removing debris from a roadway, Employee #1 began to cut down a 70 ft tree that was bowed over the roadway. After he had made his second cut, the tree split and the upper portion was propelled upward, then came down, striking him on the left side of the head. Employee #1 was killed. He was not wearing any head protection.
