Investigation Summary
Employee #1 was in a trench, installing PVC pipes to be used as a drain. At the same time, a coworker was operating a Case 580l backhoe to excavate material from the trench. The west side of the trench caved in on Employee #1, pinning him against the opposite wall. The coworker immediately radioed the public works director and emergency services responded to the scene. Employee #1 was taken to Logan Regional Hospital for observation and evaluation.
