Event: 07/29/1996
ELECTRIC SHOCK - DIRECT CONTACT WITH ENERGIZED PARTS

A power line worker was working alone on a ground-level transformer. He had been assigned to replace one of the potential transformers that drive the meter for an electric utility's customer. He was found by one of the customer's employees. The power line worker, who was touching the metal frame of the enclosure, was leaning against the 480-volt, three-phase secondary bus. The electric utility was notified and deenergized the circuit after several minutes had passed. The employee was electrocuted.
