Investigation Summary
Employee #1, a chipper operator for Seneca Sawmill, was working at the stud mill edger refuse conveyor when her left hand was caught between the flat rubber conveyor belt and a 4 in. carrier roller located about eye level. She was subsequently pulled onto the conveyor, where she was caught with her forearm under the moving belt for up to 15 minutes. She sustained four fractures and severe tissue trauma to her forearm. Employee #1 was removed by local emergency response teams who used the Jaws of Life to spread the conveyor side open. She was then transported to the hospital.
