Investigation Summary

Investigation Nr: 170894802
Event: 03/23/1997
Employee killed in fall from open door of moving vehicle

On March 23, 1997, Employee #1 was helping out after a race at Buttonwillow Raceway Park. He was riding along the course in his own van, picking up coolers from corner stations. For an unknown reason, Employee #1 fell out the van's open side door and it was rounding the slowest, most northern turn of the east loop. He sustained head and neck injuries and was transported to Kern Medical Center, where he died later that night. Employee #1 was not an actual employee, but a volunteer.
