Employee injured when forearm caught in running rollers

At approximately 11:09 a.m. on August 7, 1998, Employee #1, a maintenance mechanic was in process of cleaning a fiber jam on Garnett Machine Number 3 in a plant, which was manufacturing pillows, comforters, and mattress pads. He was engaged in clearing a fiber jam from the machine incurred by flopping fiber. He was working alone at the time of the incident. The equipment involved is a Garnett's fiber flopping machine. He was injured when his arm was caught between running rollers. Employee #1 sustained laceration on his left forearm. He was taken to County U.S.C. Medical Center, treated and released.
