Investigation Summary
Employee #1 was a general laborer who cleaned different processing machines. Before the accident happened, he was cleaning bacon lines while wearing cotton and rubber gloves. After he finished cleaning the first line, he cleaned the second line. Employee #1 took off the machine guard from the conveyor, and used a hose with an extension tool to clean the machine. He was working with the hose in his right hand and his left hand was resting on the other side of the machine. The gear-driven chain snagged his glove and pulled it into the gear, amputating the tip of his left finger. Employee #1 was hospitalized for treatment.
