Employee fractures back in fall with ladder

At approximately 12:00 noon on June 26, 2000, Employee #1 and a coworker were sheeting the second floor of a residence under construction. Employee #1 had made a 10 ft long wooden ladder that they were using to access the second floor. After approximately three hours of work, Employee #1 was beginning to descend when the ladder slipped out and he fell about 8 ft onto the wooden floor. He fractured a bone in his back and the index and small fingers on his left hand. Employee #1 was transported to the hospital, where he was treated and released after five hours.
