Employee fractures ribs in fall through skylight

Employee #1, an independent contractor, was asked by Rey Crest, Inc., Arcadia, CA, for an estimate on a roof repair job. At about 1:00 p.m. on October 16, 1996, he was on the roof when he accidentally stepped on a skylight over an air compressor room and fell approximately 10 ft to the floor. Employee #1 suffered several fractured ribs and was taken by ambulance to Methodist Hospital. He remained hospitalized for about 10 days and was then released to recuperate at home.
