Employee injured by falling objects

At approximately 10:15 a.m. on July 9, 2001, at the tunnel area of the Grand Central Recycling facility Employee #1 was on the tunnel level and was struck by objects falling from the floor opening 16 ft above. There were no witnesses at the scene. Employee #1 was transferred to the Cedar-Sinai Trauma Center by helicopter and as a result of the accident lost his left eye, numerous teeth, and underwent two brain surgeries.
