Employee's fingers amputated while cutting boards

Employee #1 was cutting a 15 3/4 in. by 79 3/4 in. by 3/4 in. piece of veneered particleboard to make shelves for a bedroom headboard. At approximately 11:55 a.m., he was cutting the last shelf for the day when the board suddenly moved, causing his right hand to strike against the saw blade. Employee #1's fourth and fifth fingers were amputated and he suffered a complex laceration to his middle finger.
