Employee Injured In Fall From Ladder

At approximately 7:10 a.m. on September 28, 1999, Employee #1, a safety manager at a movie studio, was climbing the two-piece aluminum extension ladder to reach the bottom of a boat that was being painted in preparation for a shooting. A pump had been installed to drain the water out of the bilge, with the drain hose discharging onto the ladder. Workers in the boat had just started the pump, and Employee #1, startled by the noise of the bilge pump starting, and the sound of the water coming down, jumped off the ladder, to prevent any potential injury from above. Employee #1 fractured both ankles. Employee #1 was hospitalized.
