Employee's thumb tip amputated when saw kicks back

On August 20, 1999, Employee #1 was using a Skilsaw circular saw to notch a 2 by 4 on a work table when the saw kicked back, amputating the end of his left thumb. All guards were in place and functioning when the accident occurred. No causal factors could be determined.
