Employee Amputates Finger While Operating Saw

At approximately 8:15 a.m., on October 31, 2001, Employee #1, a machine operator, was operating a Walker-Turner Radial/Pull Saw and cutting wood approximately 2-in. by 4-in. by 32-in. in size. While cutting his fourth piece, the wood kicked back, and the blade hit his left hand, amputating his left index finger and lacerating his middle finger. Employee #1 was hospitalized at Tri-Industrial Medical Clinic and Magnolia Surgery Center.
