Employee Hospitaized When Hand Contacts Rotating Mixer Blade

At approximately 10:20 p.m. on October 16, 2000, an employee suffered a finger amputation at a company manufacturing concrete roof tiles. At the time of accident, the employee was collecting a sample from the white color tank. He lowered a one-gallon plastic container into the tank to obtain a sample of the liquid. The container got tangled in the rotating mixer blade and pulled his right hand into contact with the blade. The employee was hospitalized with an amputated right middle finger and a wrist fracture. The victim stated that he was instructed to collect samples while the mixer is operating.
