Employee Burned By Ignition Of Vapors From Epoxy Sealant

On June 29, 2002, Employee #1, a supervisor, began spraying a chemical epoxy sealant onto the inside walls of a newly reworked water tank installed on a truck frame. After making three passes with the sprayer, the vapors became ignited, presumably by the light that was in the tank. Employee #1 suffered second and third degree burns on his left arm, neck and torso. He was hospitalized.
