Investigation Nr: 201151495
Event: 05/29/1998
EMPLOYEE INJURED WHEN GLOVE PULLS ARM INTO CONVEYOR

At approximately 11:30 a.m. on May 29, 1998, Employee #1, a 24-year old temporary laborer working for AFG Industries, sustained a compound fracture to the left arm. Employee #1 was working on a conveyor carrying plate glass. His glove caught on one of the projecting shafts that extended beyond the end of the bearings and pulled his arm underneath the shaft. The shaft was not guarded with a non-rotating casing. The employee was transported to Desert Community Hospital where orthopedic surgery was performed. Bone grafting was planned for a later date.
