Investigation Nr: 201150547
Event: 03/26/1997
MULITPLE FACIAL INJURIES AFTER FALLING OFF A SCAFFOLD

At approximately 11:30 a.m. on March 26, 1997, Employee #1 was erecting a metal rolling scaffold with a co-worker in order to fix a plumbing leak in the ceiling. He lost his balance and fell from a 16-foot level. While falling, he grabbed the scaffold, pulling it over. The co-worker rode the scaffold down and was not injured. Employee #1 landed on his face and was not conscious. Paramedics responded and took him to the Loma Linda University Medical Center where he was hospitalized for 24 days. He had multiple facial and skull fractures and loss of vision in his left eye due to a severed optic nerve. He was also treated for a mild case of head trauma deficit.
