Investigation Summary
At approximately 10:30 a.m. on October 21, 2003, Employee #1, a nailer/saw operator, was cutting 1-in. by 6-in. by 2-ft pieces of lumber with a chop saw equipped with a 14-in. diameter saw blade. The saw blade jammed on the stock and he tried to clear it without turning the power off to the saw. The stuck piece dislodged and the saw blade struck his left hand, causing a deep laceration of his left thumb. Employee #1 was hospitalized.
