Employee amputates finger

At approximately 10:00 a.m. on March 31, 2004, Employee #1, a welder, and two coworkers were installing newly purchased spring-loaded dock plates at a dock used for receiving and shipping. As they maneuvered the dock plates manually on a forklift for welding, the springs on the plates suddenly snapped open and pinched Employee #1's gloved left ring finger between the hinges of two plates. Employee #1 was transported to Loma Linda Medical Center in Loma Linda, California and treated for a partial amputation of his left ring finger.
