Employee Sustains Multiple Injuries in Machine Accident

At approximately 9:00 a.m. on August 25, 2004, an employee used a Glu-ALL High Frequency Hydraulic Edge Gluing Machine, Model GA-100, Serial Number 84-704. The employer manufactured wood components for architecture mill, handrail, bull table legs and tabletop furniture legs. The employee and a coworker placed preglued pairs of boards on the feed end of the gluing machine. For unknown reasons, the employee walked in front of the machine and placed his head into it, while his distracted coworker pressed the two-hand control to activate the upper platen. The employee began screaming when the upper platen began squeezing his neck. The coworker immediately hit the machine's stop button. The employee sustained injuries to his neck, head, right arm and shoulder.
