Investigation Summary

Investigation Nr: 202553509
Event: 05/03/2011
Employee Is Injured in Fall from Step Stool

On May 3, 2011, Employee #1, a medical secretary who was a full-time payroll employee with no other contracts, was working for her employer, a medical and healthcare agency in Suite 101. Employee #1 went up two steps of a step stool to put toner in the cabinet. When coming down, her foot was somehow caught, and she fell face down, onto a carpeted floor. Employee #1 sustained injuries to her right hand and knees, apparently bruises and abrasions. She was transported to Lakeview Medical Clinic and then transferred and admitted to Anaheim Medical Center. The next day, she was transferred to a skilled nursing facility in Riverside and hospitalized for two weeks for pain management. The employer reported the incident to the Division on May 4, 2011. The investigation concluded that no standard, rule, order, or regulation set forth in Title 8 of the California Code of Regulations was violated.
