Employee's thumb injured when lumber kicks back

At approximately 2:15 p.m. on May 4, 1999, Employee #1, was using a table saw to cut a piece of plywood when the wood kicked back from the blade. It struck Employee #1 in the web of his left hand, fracturing the joint of his thumb. He was hospitalized for two days. The guard with the anti-kickback device had been removed from the saw.
