Investigation Summary

Employee #1, a professor of veterinary medicine, was in the procedure room consulting with a student doing a biopsy on a growth on a horse's ear. The horse had been tranquilized but when the student stuck a syringe into the ear mass, the horse's head jerked reflexively from a drooping to a raised position. The needle flew out, striking Employee #1 in the eye. The lens of his eye had to be replaced with a fixed one, but his vision was restored except for limited ability to focus.
