Investigation Summary

Investigation Nr: 170617625
Event: 12/30/1996
EMPLOYEE WAS MURDERED BY THIEVES

A pizza deliveryman was taking an order to a home about 10:20 PM one evening. The porch light was on. As he got to the door, he was jumped by five attackers. They forced him into the house, beat him, and took his pizza and $20 in cash (the maximum amount handled at night). One of the attackers stabbed the deliveryman through the heart as he lay beaten on the floor. The injured employee was transported to a hospital, where he died at about 1:30 AM the next morning. The attackers, who were 16 to 20 years old, were all caught by 2:30 AM that morning. They had planned the delivery at a vacant home to rob the deliveryman for drug money.
