Employee's thumb amputated by a table saw

At approximately 1:30 p.m. on February 7, 2002, Employee #1 of A & K Custom Cabinets was cutting 5-in. nailboard using a 10-in. table saw. He had retracted the guard and did not use a push stick. The tip of his thumb came into contact with moving blade, resulting in amputation to the first knuckle of the left thumb. Employee #1 was treated and released. No hospitalization was required.
