Employee injured in fall from edge of roof

On May 29, 1998, Employee #1, of Erickson Construction Company, Inc., was part of a framing crew attaching trim around the window areas at a residential subdivision project in Folsom, CA. The roof area from which they were working from had tar paper and laths in place in preparation for installing roof tile. Employee #1 was walking across the roof toward the access ladder to go down and get more material when he tripped on a lath board and did a somersault over the edge of the roof. He fell between 8 and 9 ft, landing on cobblestone. Employee #1 fractured several ribs and punctured a lung. He was administered first aid by paramedics and then flown by Life Flight to UC-Davis Medical Center in Sacramento, CA, where he was admitted for treatment.
