Investigation Summary
Employee #1 was on the ground floor below the bleach plant. Employee #1 was cleaning a plugged drain pipe on a stock tank. To clean stock from the plugged line, Employee #1 opened the valve and pushed a water hose up the pipe. The hot stock came out of the drain faster than Employee #1 anticipated. Employee #1 stepped to the left side of the drain line which placed him between the hot stock and the side of a tank. Employee #1 was pinned against the tank as the hot stock surrounded him. The stock has a temperature of 195 degrees. Employee #1 received second degree burns to his right leg, right arm and torso.
