Employee Loses Arm in Conveyor

Employee #1 worked for the company as a kiln operator. Employee #1 was new to this job and was still doing some training. Employee #1 opened an inspection door to check for debris in a saw dust fuel conveyor. This conveyor starts automatically. Employee #1 knelt down on his knees reached in and used his left hand to sweep saw dust away from the tail drum. The conveyor started and pulled Employee #1's left arm around the tail drum. Employee #1 did not lock this piece of equipment out before opening the inspection door. Employee #1 lost his left arm just above his elbow.
