Employee's leg fractured when struck by segments

At approximately 10:00 p.m. on November 21, 2002, Employee #1, a miner, who worked for Kenny-Shy-Traylor-Frontier-Kemper for approximately 7 weeks, was bottom landing materials at the bottom of the outlet siphon shaft at Jefferson and LaCienega. An empty nylon rigging being hoisted up and out of the shaft snagged a loaded segment car and ejected three segments off the car. The segments fell onto Employee #1's feet and legs, resulting in fractured toes and two broken legs. He was hospitalized.
