Employee Killed When Struck By Falling Tree

At approximately 12:30 p.m. on August 7, 2001, Employee #1, a timber faller, was fatally injured when struck by a large tree limb. At the time of the accident Employee #1 and another faller were working an area at the crest of a hill falling pines marked for sale. The coworker who was working approximately 100 ft away in heavy brush and timber, looked to check Employee #1's location. The coworker saw Employee #1 under a large limb. The coworker cut the limb and removed Employee #1. Employee #1 had suffered severe head injuries and showed no signs of life. Employee #1 was killed.
