Event: 11/12/1997
Employee's leg fractured when struck by flying wrench

Employee #1 was finishing the installation of a water pump and was using a pipe wrench to turn the shaft on the drive motor to check the pump rotation. His assistant needed help, so Employee #1 left his task without removing the pipe wrench. After helping his coworker, he turned on the pump to check its operation. Seeing then that he had left the pipe wrench on the motor shaft, he turned off the pump. The wrench flew off the shaft and struck Employee #1's right leg, fracturing his femur.
