Investigation Summary

Investigation Nr: 170613392
Event: 08/26/1996
Employee injured in fall while descending utility pole

Employee #1 was working from a 35 ft utility pole, installing cable television at a house. He finished the pole connection and was on his way down when he gaffed out and fell 8 ft to the ground. He extended his right hand to break his fall and fractured his wrist. He was treated at the hospital and released the same day. It is likely that Employee #1's gaffing spike did not hold because he was descending too quickly. He was wearing all of the protective gear required for his job.
