Investigation Summary
On August 25, 2004, Employee #1 was welding in a crouched position. Nearby, a Judson Pacific 10-ton bridge crane was being operated. While the crane hooks were being elevated, they struck a 70-ft-long structural steel I-beam weighing 9,200 lbs, causing it to fall and strike Employee #1. He was hospitalized for spinal fractures, an abdominal hernia, and crushing injuries to his abdomen, pelvis, back and lower right leg.
