Employees arm severed by Notcher Machine

At approximately 9:50 a.m. on February 5, 2001, an employee was putting notches in pieces of wood that were 2 in. by 4 in. Apparently the wood became jammed in the notcher machine. The employee attempted to remove the pieces of wood and his left arm was severed by the blades of the notcher. The employee was transported to John Muir Hospital, Walnut Creek, CA.
