Investigation Summary
Employee #1 sustained compound fractures to the right leg when he was run over by a tractor. He had attempted to start the tractor while standing on the ground next to the vehicle. Unbeknown to the employer, the safety switch for the tractor had been bypassed sometime in the past. The safety switch is designed to prevent the tractor starting while in gear. It is not known how the tractor got into gear. Employee #1 was hospitalized for his injuries.
