Employee injured when hands caught by die press

Employee #1 was assigned to form leaf springs in Die Press Number 107. He was going to change the die configuration to run a larger leaf spring. Employee #1 forgot to de-energize the press before doing the die set up. When he was going to change the die spacer, his stomach hit the start button on the front of the press. The press cycled and caught Employee #1's hand. The movement of the press crushed both of his hands. Employee #1 was taken to the hospital for treatment.
