Employee's leg broken after being pinned by paper roll

On April 9, 2004, Employee #1, a laser printer operator, walked from his workstation (Laser Printer 83) to the paper roll stock area to retrieve a roll of billing paper (U679). He started to push the approximately 1,000 pound roll off of the pallet intending to push it to the floor and then roll it back to the work station and load into the machine. When pushing the roll off the pallet, it hit materials on the adjacent pallet, and this caused it to begin to fall. The roll fell and caught the employee, pinning his left leg. Employee #1 suffered a broken left leg and was hospitalized for five days at Mercy Health Care in Folsom, California.
