Employee Suffers Fractures While Cleaning Dough Mixer

Employee #1 is an inmate in the corrections center which is a level one facility. Employee #1 was in vocational training working in the bakery. Employee #1 was cleaning a horizontal dough mixer and used the inch-button to rotate the dough blades in front of him for cleaning. The inch-button allows the blades to move when the guard is not closed. The blades moved more than Employee #1 wanted and he grabbed the blades to stop them. Employee #1's fingers were pinched between the side of the mixer and the blades. Employee #1 pulled the blades backward to free his fingers. Four of Employee #1's fingers were fractured and he was hospitalized.
